Before I went to Bible College, I worked at the Farmall Tractor plant in Rock Island, IL.  I assumed on my first day there that I was hired to do a job that would benefit the company. After I was hired and began to work, they did provide me with many benefits. They provided health insurance, holiday pay, two weeks paid vacation, etc.  Each week I received a paycheck that enabled me to pay our house mortgage, purchase a car, put gas in it, maintain it and insure it. Because of the wages I received, I was able to take care of our family's needs. Ultimately however, they hired me to do a job.
For those of us who are children of God, there are many benefits. We have eternal life, we have a relationship with the Father, we have been adopted into the family of God, we have been made joint heirs with Jesus, we have a home in Heaven and we have the opportunity for an abundant life while we are here on earth.
Nevertheless, God did not save you to keep you from going to Hell. He did not redeem you simply to give you a home in Heaven. I believe our ultimate purpose in this life is to bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father. If that is true (and it is) then it is safe to say that you were SAVED TO SERVE!  Christians are not saved to sit... and wait for retirement.  So, as my dad would say, get with it!
